Details
Glenmorangie is one of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland, and in of the smallest. Their production in any one year is not large, and their stocks of old whisky are extremely limited.
However, from time to time, their Distillery Manager sets aside selected casks for extra ageing. All our casks are made of white oak from the Ozark Mountain in Missouri: the ones he chooses have those indefinable qualities which, he knows, will produce a fine aged Glenmorangie.
Their warehouses lie adjacent to the Distillery on the Dornach Firth. They are of the old style- low stone built, earth floored - and permeated by fresh sea-air. Once selected, the casks remain there, undisturbed until they come of age, the gentle, local climate ensuring a steady path to full maturity.
The result of this care and patience is a whisky of rare distinction. The characteristic subtly and refinement of Glemorangie - the floral bouquet, the delicate balance of flavours - are all abundantly present, but the enhanced and enriched - heightened with notes of vanilla and almonds, rounded off with deep notes of raisins. The perfect after-dinner dram.
