Glen Moray single malt commemorative edition, bottled to mark the opening of the
visitors centre at the the Glen Moray distillery on the river Lossie on the outskirts of Elgin, the capital of the Speyside whisky region.
This is a unique bottling from cask 4696. Bottle number 145 of 276 at 64.4%and signed by Ed Dobson, the distillery manager.
This very rare sought after whisky was named whisky of the year in 2006 by James Murray in the "Whisky Bible" out of some 3000 whiskies.
It is bourbon cask first fill matured for at least 17 years allowing the aroma and rich flavour to mature to it's full strength. The aroma is a mixture of chocolate and honeycomb; sweet fruits with spices simmering in the background. The mouthfeel is full and warming and flavour sweet and spicy.
It's nose is perfumed candles. It is cinder toffee and subtle creme caramel with palate like creamy yogurt on exotic fruit.
Adding water would knock out the mid-palate. This whisky is for after dinner on
a special occasion and for sharing with good friends.
This bottling is very rare and represents very good value as a collectors item.
